State Rep. Barbara McIlvaine Smith is carfting legislation to repeal a law that bestows cost-of-living adjustments, or COLAs, on the General Assembly. 
McIlvaine Smith, D-156th, of West Chester, wants to end the automatic pay hikes for the legislature, judges and commission heads, according to a statement released Wednesday from the House Democratic Office in Harrisburg. 
The mesure, wwhich she intends to introduce in January, mya face some stiff scrutiny from Republicans, with at least House member calling it politically motivated. 
McIlvaine Smith represents four municipalities in eastern Chester County. Attempts to reach her for comment Wednesday were unsuccessful.
