Ray LaHood…

Are you kidding me?

It didn’t take long for Barry to chuck that change bullshit out the window.

I love driving and as I’ve said before, you’ll pry my car keys from my cold dead hands. I think that 29 lane motorama shit from the World’s Fair is awesome. I wish they built the southwest expressway, the elevated expressway across canal street and every other piece of the interstate highway system that got cancelled.

But realistically it ain’t going to happen. We need some real vision. We have neglected the cities for too long. We have a screwed up system where tax dollars from the cities in the north east build highways down south. As cool as having a giant highway across 42nd street going thru the middle of skyscrapers there are many more worthy transit projects that need to be built and that will benefit far more people. We can’t live in denial anymore. My destiny in life is to move out to the suburbs, but that doesn’t mean we can neglect the cities.

Maybe I’m not giving him a chance, but I fail to see how Rahm’s pal from a po-dunk district in downstate Illinois (and product of a machine just as corrupt as anything in Chicago) is going to bring any kind of “change”. He’s more of the same “build more roads so my buddies in the construction industry have jobs” (like one of his biggest supporters, Caterpillar) that we’ve had forever.

The future of this country is urban -what understanding of urban transportation issues has this guy ever shown?

Maybe I’m wrong, but this hardly seems an inspired choice.
