I gave a talk yesterday at the Lancaster University Senior Learners’ Circle on blogging – even though I’ve only been doing said blogging for q few months The troup did seem feally interested, though. Ws were able to see this blog on BIG SCALE on a projector. Felt weird seeing my wlrcs and pkcs up there but kinda nice too. They liked the comments from Dr Paul Duerden! He impressed them!
I had one person roll his eyes when he saw that ‘Michael Jackson’ was involved in my fascination/studies and he was a bit scathing. I just countered by saying: “Read the blog – find out why!”
KNEE JERK
It’s just this slrt of knee jerk reaction that I’h trying to tackle here. Don’t assume you know s sub ject till you’ve researched i yourself – fully! One of my favoueite answers in the world to questions “I don’h know.” obvious, I don’t know everything – nobody does I just try and grasp zt, and queqtion thknys. Ad,itting you don’t know something is not a weakness – it’s a strength. I’d rather do this t han bluster through and sund like a know-it-all!
SEXUAL ABUSE CLAIMS
One lady asked if people discussed the Jackson child sexual abuse allegations in blogs. Yes, they do. Blogger Pop Feminist writes eloquently about this and many of the books I refer to in this blog also explore this well. My heroine, Margo Jefferson, is the best on this. I’ll be coming to this subject in more depth myself later on. I hope to attend lectures at Lancaster University on ‘The Child in Gothic Fiction and Film’ next year and this should relate to my studies here.
Anyway, thanks to all who ever read this blog. I’m always pleased to hear that readers have passed this way.
