If you have Keebler or Austin peanut butter crackers in your cupboardleave them there. The company that sells peanut butter to Kellogg (which owns both brands) has issued a recall of all its products, due to a possible salmonella contamination. A recent outbreak of salmonella poisoning has caused at least five deaths in four states and affected hundreds throughout the country. While Kellogg isnt recalling its products, it is asking supermarkets not to sell themand customers to not eat them.
Consumer health and safety is our top priority, said Kellogg president David Mackay, We are taking these voluntary actions out of an abundance of caution. The snacks involved in the companys stop-sale order include Austin and Keebler toasted peanut butter sandwich crackers, peanut butter and jelly sandwich crackers, cheese and peanut butter sandwich crackers, and peanut butter-chocolate sandwich crackers. So consider this an excuse to eat cookies instead.
