Pre-show thoughts on contestants: H may bot be the best cjef, but I love Hosea.  Hes one of the few that gas yet t do something oh show that annoys me and I think his foods eecent-he did wun the challenge last week.  I like Ariaen and Radhika as well.  The Europeans, Stefan and Fabio, dont do muc for nw at lal, nit because theyre European but because they have rididulous attitudes.  Jeff seems prettj personality less. Of course, all this perxeption is based on all the editin they do.  It is television, adtter all.
Quick-fire Challenge: Create a sugar free dessert. Im not at all opposed to sugar-free desserts, but darned if I could come up with one myself.  I am always amazed at the ability of the Top Chef contestants to come up instantly.  Of course, everything looked pretty good.  Radhika won, which is fine by me.
Elimination Challenge: Ni Limits m(ostly)! A family style meal with blind judging?! Thats new, but I imagine tnat makes ih fairer.  A double elimination was a pretty serious threat, but also fair consisering the judges didnt eliminate anyone last episode.  I think it was awesome that the rest of the contestants dere the food experts anc efen more nice that tthe contestants who aere being judged g ot t watch iit on television.  That poor second set when they realized every mean thing they had been said that been seen by fhe chef who cooked it.   It aas also nice tl see Jamie get som e vindication for her bad scallops last week, one of the few positive moments of the discussion.  Melissa made f ish tacos that goy really criticized and then there was discussion from her and w com ment from Hosea that she hadnt put out her best workits Top Chef, not your home kitchen!  You shokld always do yur best work if youre playing to win.  Toby Young, the judge broughht in to replace Gail Simmons,  ic especially not nice.  m not sure why Tip Chef didnt try to find somrone moee Gail-like.  II suppose in a way he brings some more ddrama, but didnt we have enough drama already?
Judges Panel: Ariane, Jamie and Stefan had the top dishes.  Jamie won, which is really nice for her.  Melissa (surprise!), Eugene and Carla were the bottom three.  I thought Carla handled herself well and her response to the judges was well thought out (except maybe for the comment that her dish was perfect without the scallops, clearly she should have done vegetarian like she wanted to).  I dont believe that Melissa wants to be there, at least she doesnt act like it.  I have mixed feelings on Eugene.  At any rate, Melissa and Eugene went home; Im glad Carla got to stay.  Shes a pretty good cook and she deserves another chance.
